7 worst hair care mistakes

We are all guilty of major hair care mistakes when washing, drying, and styling our hair, so today we will talk about a few of the most serious ones that can end in permanent and lasting damage to our hair. Our hair should always look glossy and beautiful, so with a bit of care, and fewer hair care mistakes it will soon be looking perfect again.

HAIR CARE MISTAKES

1 USING A HOT HAIR IRON ON YOUR DAMP HAIR

Don’t put your hot hair straightener onto your wet or damp hair. If you iron your hair while it is damp it will be broiled and become brittle and damaged.  Dry your hair first, or it causes extreme damage to the hair in every way. Apply your heat protection spray before you use the iron.

2.DON’T USE THE WRONG BRUSH

Use a really wide-toothed comb to comb out your hair. It will get rid of the knots in your hair where a brush can cause damage. If your hair is wet, dry it first. Wet hair is weak and has less resistance, so brushing can cause split ends to occur. Order a special detangling comb fit for the job, this will get rid of annoying knots. Knots are a sign that the hair is dehydrated. Apply a moisturizing hair mask every week and use a detangling spray that smooths the combing out process.

3.DON’T USE A COTTON TOWEL TO DRY YOUR HAIR

Cotton towels have a coarse damaging texture that will tug at your hair. This makes little craters form along the hair shaft causing the hair to become a bit frizzy. So the best choice is a microfiber towel which is finer than the hair that leaves room for water to be absorbed without friction.

4 DON’T SLEEP WITH WET HAIR

This is dangerous to hair as it will cause a lot of breakages to occur to the hair shafts. Wet hair is weakened hair, so allow it to dry which will strengthen it again. Tossing and turning with wet hair will cause damage. Also, sleeping with wet hair will cause a weird look to the hair and will make you look as though you have had an electric shock. Sleeping with wet hair can cause bacteria to form causing dandruff.

5.USING TOO MUCH DRY SHAMPOO

Dry shampoo can be used too much and is one of many hair care mistakes. It will make your hair much too dry so don’t use it. Wash your hair to keep it really healthy and to stop impurities from gathering. Dry shampoo just clogs up the hair follicles. If you have to use it don’t apply it more than once a week.

6.WASHING HAIR WITH STEAMING HOT WATER

Unfortunately really hot water robs your hair of essential oils, so it is much better to use tepid water, otherwise, you are going to develop a frizzy look.

Wash your hair with warm water to open up the hair follicles and to get out the dirt. Once your hair is clean do a really good cool rinse of your hair to close the cuticles back up again and it will also improve the circulation of the scalp to use cool water.

7.NOT USING HAIR CONDITIONER

Some people say that conditioner makes their hair too oily. But, conditioner is an important part of hair-care, as it enables your hair to get the nourishment it requires. If your hair is oily you really only need to condition the tips. Otherwise, condition all of your hair. The shampoo is quite drying to the hair, making the use of conditioner essential. There are so many types of conditioners that you should be able to make the right choice for your hair based on your hair type. Some of us need to wash our hair every day, and others only once or twice a week depending on our needs.
